OUR STORY

Mountain Top Kids, founded in 1979, with two locations in the Crestwood School District, offers a full-scale Preschool/Pre-K program as well as quality child care for children ages birth to thirteen years old. We are the oldest childcare facility on the mountain, and we are voluntary participants in the Keystone Stars Quality initiative, currently holding a Star 3 status!

All staff are trained in Pediatric First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, Fire Safety, dealing with challenging behaviors, Developmentally Appropriate Behavior and Environmental Rating Scales pertinent to the group they are working with!

Programs

Mountain Top Kids is divided into six developmental segments: Nursery, Toddlers and Two's at our Marian Court location. Preschool, Pre-K and School Age (all year round as well as summer camp) at our South Main Road location. Read more below about each program's philosophy!

Infants

Infants are our specialty! The primary concerns of the Mountain Top Kids nursery staff, adhered to as part of a quality program for children ages newborn to toddler, are in a ratio of 1 adult to 4 infants.

Young Toddlers

Mountain Top Kids' Young Toddlers is a progressive program where each child's strengths are stressed to promote good self esteem. The children, ages 13 months to 24 months, are in a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children.

Two's

Mountain Top Kids' Two's program is a progressive program where each child's strengths are stressed to promote good self esteem. The children, ages 24 months to 36 months, are in a ratio of 1 adult to 6 children.

Preschool

Mountain Top Kids Preschool is a progressive program which promotes positive self-esteem in children ages three and four. We follow an approved Early Childhood curriculum centered on monthly themes. Each day begins with a large group circle time. Self control, communication, self control, socialization, listening skills, math concepts, memorization, and knowledge about the monthly theme are all aspects of circle time.

Our room is set up with learning centers where the children can explore and interact with each other.

Pre-K

Mountain Top Kids Pre-K is a progressive program which promotes positive self-esteem in children age five. We follow an approved Early Childhood curriculum centered on monthly themes. Each day begins with a large group circle time. Self control, communication, self control, socialization, listening skills, math concepts, memorization, and knowledge about the monthly theme are all aspects of circle time.

Our room is set up with learning centers as well as personalized desks where the children can explore and interact with each other as well as learn what its like to be in a Kindergarten classroom.

School Age

Mountain Top Kids School Age program is an informal environment which provides a safe, secure, yet stimulating home base for children before and after school as well as early dismissal days, school days, holidays, and summer vacations. Our School Age program will enable your child to achieve a sense of belonging, self-esteem, and self confidence through specialized activities, field trips, interaction with friends, and involvement with the local community. Our Summer Day Camp,  one of our most popular programs includes a daily field trip to pools, lakes, theme parks, movie theaters, roller skating, bowling, and educational tours.

We follow the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards- PA Keys to conduct activities each morning in 15 minute intervals. The program incorporates language skills, numbers, drama, art, and music with a strong emphasis on exploration and discovery. The primary goal of all our programs at MTK is to foster socialization skills, encourage self-help skills, and develop independence.

Procare App: Mountain Top Kids offers parents free participation in the Procare information exchange app. This app engages parents with digital daily tracking for their child, pictures, and any updates for care during the day, or any reminders. This frees the staff to focus on your children, not paperwork. This app is being used for all classrooms at Mountain Top Kids.
